“DARE TO CARE” and Support National Bandana Day |
PathCare, a network of pathology laboratories in South Africa and Namibia has been supporting The Sunflower Fund for a number of years, by drawing the blood of bone marrow stem cell donors for the South African Bone Marrow Registry and also transporting the blood to the laboratories for testing.
PathCare is uniquely positioned to make a positive impact on its communities and as such, we wish to build a culture of making a difference and caring in PathCare through our commitment to social responsibility. We are committed to a pathology service that adds value and through Dare to Care we are making that a way of life in PathCare by extending our value system of care, quality and value to our communities and together make a difference in people’s lives. PathCare launched the “Dare to Care” campaign on 15 January 2009 and we hope this initiative will allow everyone in PathCare to impact and enhance the lives of people in their community by “Daring to Care”.
This year PathCare bought 2 354 bandanas as National Bandana Day provides PathCare with a wonderful opportunity to build momentum around the recently launched social responsibility initiative “Dare to Care”. All PathCare laboratories and blood collecting depots will receive a “Surprise Bag” which will be filled with Bandanas – this will mean that all PathCare staff will wear a bandana on National Bandana Day, 14th October 2009. PathCare will also be paying for 25 of their staff to join the South African Bone Marrow Registry.
We also have an internal challenge around this where we will challenge each PathCare site to “pay” this Bandana “forward” by taking the money they would have spent on Bandanas, or if they cannot do that, some of their time and meet some need of a project in their community – we call this the PathCare Pay it Forward campaign! PathCare people can do anything to make a difference as part of the Dare to Care campaign.
PathCare is making a DIFFERENCE. Our external challenge is to DARE other medical professionals and corporates in Southern Africa to make a DIFFERENCE in peoples’ lives by showing you CARE on Bandana Day.
