The Sunflower Fund National Bandana Day Thank you South Africa!
Thank you for supporting The Sunflower Fund National Bandana Day and awareness months of September and October 2009!
A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you who supported our National Bandana Day this year on 14 October 2009. The campaign kicked off on 1 September and continues until the end of October 2009. We are determined to sell all our stock at Pick ‘n Pay this year in order to raise the funds necessary to help tissue type as many donors as possible next year.
WE NEED YOUR FURTHER HELP TO DO THIS.
The Bandana Challenge
We still have 83 700 Bandanas to sell in order to reach our target – that is only 837 boxes each containing 100 Bandanas, at R2 000 per box. One of the most useful and meaningful ways in which your company can help is buy a box of 100 Bandanas, donate it back to The Sunflower Fund to be made into colourful duvet covers for hospital beds and cots. These cheerful duvets are especially welcome to brighten up the cancer wards at hospitals around the country. Or what about buying a box of Bandanas for your company strategy and team building workshops where teams could be differentiated into separate colour groups with Sunflower Bandanas.

TEARS AND LAUGHTER – My Life with Leukaemia |
Written by: Ann Pistorius 14 October 1942 – 21 March 2002
If you have a friend or family member who is fighting their battle with Leukaemia or you have lost a close friend or family member to Leukaemia or even if you just want to read a beautiful true-life story, then this book is for you. This book is a lesson to all of us – on hope, courage, determination and love.
Ann Pistorius was born in Cape Town, into a close-knit, loving family. A fine Arts graduate of Rhodes University, Ann travelled the world furthering her studies, and in between conquered the worlds biggest cycle race – The Argus, climbed Kilimanjaro, and explored her passion for diving.
In February 1999, Ann was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia. A fighter and optimist by nature, Ann fought this battle to the end.
During her struggle with leukaemia she leaned on the resources that made her the positive and indefatigable person that she was: the powerful healing forces of love and prayer, the support of her family and loved ones, an insatiable desire to learn more about her illness.
These factors, and an incredible will to live, have contributed to this – Ann’s story, an extraordinary novel of courage and tenacity that will bring hope to all who feel there is none.
TEARS AND LAUGHTER is on sale for R50.00 and all the proceeds go to The Sunflower Fund to enable the recruitment of more bone marrow donors onto the SABMR in order to save the lives of those patients, like Ann, suffering from leukaemia and other life-threatening blood disorders.
