39 working days, 300 000 bandanas to be made
September 21 will see the fifth Sunflower Fund National Bandana day, and this year the bandanas are much bigger, softer and in a feast of nine summer colours plus the original sunflower design, with the aim of selling 50 000 more than last year! DT Corporate House and Ajabu Promotions have been contracted with the production of this year's Sunflower Fund bandanas. Pick ‘n Pay has generously agreed to produce a further 50 000 bandanas this year which means production is in full swing and highly pressurized in order to get the bandanas in store by mid-August.
The Sunflower Fund National Bandana Day is a national campaign that aims to raise much needed funds through the sales of Bandanas nationally. The campaign is endorsed by the Minister of Education, Naledi Pandor and the The Most Reverend Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu. Pick 'n Pay have been our retail partners since the inception of the campaign four years ago and again continue their commitment to the cause for the 2007 campaign.
The campaign for this year will feature two designs. The generic black, yellow and white bandana and a “surprise” bandana. The “surprise” bandana design was the result of a competition that was open to Technikons in Kwa-Zulu Natal and Cape Town . These technikons were tasked with designing a bandana and the winning design received a prize of R10,000 sponsored by Pick 'n Pay. The winning design came from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
Both these bandanas will be on sale throughout Pick 'n Pay stores nationally at a cost of R15 as from middle August till middle October. The official date for the 2007 campaign is 21 September.
