Bikers from across Durban came out in full force to enjoy the sunny weather on Sunday, 8th November to support The Sunflower Fund's 3nd annual Bikers4Bandanas breakfast run starting at Southway Mall and finishing at Jimmy Bellows in Westville.
A total of 125 bikers supported the event and through the entries, sales of Sunflower Bandanas, donations and a raffle, R31 350 was raised.
The bikers enjoyed breakfast and the atmosphere was festive with entertainment from DV8. Loads of lucky draw prizes were awarded and the trophy for the biggest club entry was claimed by CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association) with a total of 16 participating bikers.
Thank you to BUCO Pinetown who matched all the donations collected throughout the day.
Stephanie Berry, PR Manager for The Sunflower Fund in KZN encouraged bikers to become bone marrow stem cell donors by phoning The Sunflower Fund's toll free number, 0800 12 10 82, to complete a form which they would then present at their closest SANBS Clinic. It only takes two test tubes of blood to become a donor and if you are a perfect match there is no surgery involved. It is your opportunity to 'Share a Little, Save a Life'.
The South African National Blood Services (SANBS) collected 5 units of much needed blood during the event.
The Sunflower Fund would like to thank the KZN Motorcycle Federation, Westville Old Boys Sports Club, Anna's Glass Art, all the bikers who participated and all the prize sponsors for making the morning possible.
