Chase didn’t really feel ill but his parents noticed that he had developed a rash on his shoulders and hip that looked like blood blisters. His mom took him to see the doctor after he did not show any signs of improvement. After a few tests the doctor diagnosed Chase with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. This news came as a huge shock to the family as no-one expected the diagnosis to be so serious.
He was being treated at Parklands Hospital and was in remission but his only chance of survival was to find a bone marrow stem cell donor match and undergo a bone marrow stem cell transplant while he wass in remission. There was a 25% chance that his two siblings would be a match but after being tested, this was not to be.
Chase loves riding his bike, watching and playing soccer. When asked whether Chase and his family had a message for the public, they responded “Never take life for granted. You never know when you may be in the same situation.”
