A full field of golfers enjoyed The Sunflower Fund’s 8th Annual Golf Day which was  held at The  Clovelly Country Club, on Thursday, 10th May 2012. Taylormade  and Sauce-ing were the two sponsors of the Golf Day. Taylormade provided the first 5 prizes to the value of R20 000 and Sauce-ing sponsored  the Goodie Bags and a Raffle prize. Players ended the day in the clubhouse, with an energetic auction by Paddy Smuts which was highly successful. A total of R95 000 was raised which  will be used to recruit  new donors onto the South African Bone Marrow Registry.

On Tuesday, 19th July, 176 golfers played in perfect conditions at Mount Edgecombe Country Club and raised a total of R90 905.

The Sunflower Fund would like to say a big thank you to Rodel who has sponsored the event for the past five years and make special mention of MTN, D&A Timbers, Sappi and Jeep for their generous donation.

Preparation for The Sunflower Fund Golf Day in Association with Rodel Financial Services is in full swing. Getting everything teed up for the big day are compere Ian McIntosh with Rodel’s Andrew Church and organisers Tenley Cummings from The Sunflower Fund, Rodel’s Sam Daykin with The Sunflower Fund’s Stephanie Berry.

The sixth annual golf day, which has enjoyed ongoing sponsorship from Rodel takes place on Tuesday, 19th July at Mount Edgecombe Country Club and already half of the field has been booked.

The cost per 4 ball is R2052 which excludes the cost of the golf cart which is essential if playing on course two. The format is 4 ball alliance, two scores to count and the top twenty teams receive a prize. A wheel barrow of golfers ‘favourites’ is being put together for the main raffle prize so the sponsorship of beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and snacks (biltong, crisps, chocolates, nuts) are very welcome.
