More than one hundred outdoor and pet enthusiasts filled the Scout Bowl of the Westville Civic Centre on Saturday 10th October for the 2nd Annual Bandana Doggy Fun Walk in celebration of National Bandana Day that takes place annually on the 12th of October. People and pooches of all colours, breeds and sizes took to the scenic nature trail donning their bright and beautiful Sunflower Bandanas. The atmosphere was as warm and sunny as the weather that the event was blessed with.

On arrival each entrant received a stylish 2015 Sunflower Bandana as well as a fabulous goodie bag filled with treats and trendy freebies sponsored by industry leaders Petwise, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Animal Talk Magazine, MediPet and the Westville Vet Hospital. After a moving speech by Allison Ekstrand of The Sunflower Fund, vet marketing expert, Debbie Muller of Cute Marketing Solutions delivered an informative talk on basic good pet care.

The ever jovial Penelope Kirkland of Megazone Hit Radio was the lovable MC of the morning and kept spirits high at what can only be described as a canine carnival. There was plenty of fun, food and frenzy with loads of awesome lucky draw and raffle prize giveaways. ‘Lily’ the adorable bulldog, owned by Lesley Clarke, was not one to shy away from the cameras and stole the heart of the judges and clinched the coveted title of ‘Bandana Dog of the Day’ and walked away with an awesome Petwise product hamper.

The Sunflower Fund Durban wishes to thank all major and co-sponsors including the Ethekwini Parks & Recreation Dept., Bianca Warren Designs, JATA Business Supplies, Le Pet (Westville), Pro DJs KZN and all other partners and participants who helped make this event a success.
