NATIONAL RETAIL CAMPAIGN

SEPTEMBER 2007

September 2007 - Musgrave Centre
The longest Sunflower Fund Bandana Banner: 22m long, 1m wide. 176 bandanas were used to make the banner. The banner will be donated to the Red Cross Children's Home.

Musgrave Centre
has always been passionate about its Social and Community Responsibility. They adopted the month of September and launched sewing installations on the 1st September. This activity focused around shoppers purchasing bandanas and donating their bandanas. Seamstresses were on hand to sew these bandanas together which formed part of Musgrave Centre's attempt at the Longest Bandana Banner. Musgrave centre secured R22000 in sponsorship and secured publicity to the value of R135 000. 25 Tenants participated throughout the month and 73% of tenants participated in the fashion show this year vs. 63% in 2006.

Musgrave Centre would definitely like to participate next year (2008) with a fashion element and to break our longest bandana banner that's stands at 22m long.

AUGUST 2007

They raised funds and awareness through a coin mile, a spin-a-thon that got the local community involved, a ladies breakfast and a family fun day. Combined with a raffle for a sought after quid bike the centre raised a total of R54 775.81 It was hugely beneficial for the centre as they got a lot of free publicity throughout a six month period.

July 2007 - Overport City
Enjoying the Oros Man's attention was Daniel, who was spotted at
Overport City supporting The Sunflower Fund.

Through Sunflower Fund we managed to secure sponsorship to the value of R24750 for events held at the centre.

The tenants were motivated and they noted an increase in sales. The centre proposes to celebrate Sunflower Month again in July 2008.

JUNE 2007

June 2007 - Bluff Towers   June 2007 - Bluff Towers

A giant yellow ribbon was wrapped around the shopping centre for the entire month of June in support of The Sunflower Fund.

Excited groups of school children gathered at Bluff Towers to participate in a trolley endurance race in aid of The Sunflower Fund.

Bluff Towers participated in the Retail competition by adopting the month of June. A total of R71 168 was raised. In keeping with the “bigger, bolder, better” theme, and an exciting first in South Africa, a giant yellow ribbon was wrapped around the shopping centre for the entire month of June, with companies sponsoring a section of the ribbon in recognition of which their logo was displayed on banners outside the Centre. It was hugely beneficial for the centre as they got a lot of free publicity throughout the month.

Bluff Towers also saw eager teenagers gather at the Centre on the 2nd June to take part in a Trolley Endurance Race, with the exhausted winning team, Grosvenor Boys High, completing 81 laps in 50 minutes.
