The 3rd annual ‘Denim & Diamonds’ fundraising ladies breakfast was held on Tuesday, 24th November at the Breakers Hotel in Umhlanga. One hundred and twenty ladies all dressed in their finest denim and diamonds were treated to guest speakers, breakfast, a goodie bag, plenty of give-aways, pampering and shopping stalls.
Hazel Mthembu, mother of Leukaemia Patient, Neli Mthembu was the first guest speaker who took the ladies through a very emotional family journey from diagnosis. Hazel thanked everyone for their support and pleaded with the ladies to come forward and help save more lives by becoming bone marrow stem cell donors and by donating blood.
Second speaker of the morning, Anita Hamilton-Williams from Banting Buddies gave an informative talk on the importance of nutrition and the dangers of consuming too much sugar.
The Best dressed runner up prize was awarded to Nondumiso Ntsele and Best dressed was awarded to Genie Govender who went all out to impress.
Through the ticket sales and a raffle, the event made just over R19 000.A big thank you to the organiser Tanya Tostee, The Breakers Hotel, Chateau Gateaux, Lemon Wellness and Laser Spa and all the generous sponsors who donated wonderful items towards each guest's goodie bag as well as a host of other gifts and vouchers for the lucky draws.
